Winemaker Gábor Berger in the wine cellar

Berger Vin · Császártöltés, Hungary

Three generations of Hungarian winemaking expertise.

A family winery in the Hajós–Baja wine region, where knowledge of vineyard and cellar has been passed down for three generations.

The story of Berger Vin

What began in the vineyard of Gábor Berger’s father has grown into a winery with 36 hectares of its own vines, 14 grape varieties and a cellar where tradition meets modern winemaking.

The Berger family has made wine in Császártöltés for three generations. The work begins in their own vineyards and continues through to bottling in the cellar. Every step remains in the hands of people who know the land and its grapes intimately.

Gábor Berger grew up among the vines, helping with the harvest and in the cellar from childhood. After studying winemaking in Budafok and continuing his education, he built on the knowledge handed down by his father.

Portrait of Gábor Berger

Gábor Berger · head winemaker

A craft passed from father to son.

Gábor combines family tradition with professional winemaking expertise. He understands the entire process: from choosing a grape variety and working in the vineyard to vinification, maturation and the finished wine in the bottle.

That continuity is at the heart of Berger Vin. This is not a manufactured brand story, but a family winery where experience is put to work anew with every vintage.

Awarded in its home wine region

Decades of experience, recognised with gold and silver.

At the 2023 Hajós–Baja wine competition, Berger Vin received six gold and seven silver medals. A clear result from a winery that oversees every step, from its own vineyards to the finished wine.

The Hajós–Baja wine region

Sandy soils, abundant sunshine and expressive grapes.

Around Császártöltés, the vineyards lie on sandy and loess soils. Warm summers and long hours of sunshine give the grapes ample time to develop ripeness and aroma.

Berger Vin manages the entire process itself: from its own vines and the harvest to the cellar and the bottle. Origin, style and quality remain recognisable in every vintage.
